Member Awards

Recognition. We are proud to recognize the exceptional achievements and contributions of APTA Kansas members. The Awards Committee invites your help in identifying deserving individuals. If you know a Chapter member who meets the criteria for one of the awards listed below—or believe you may qualify—please complete the awards nomination form and submit it to the APTA Kansas staff office. Awards are presented annually at the Spring and Fall Conferences.

This award honors a faculty member within Kansas who has made significant contributions to physical therapy education. Nominees must be APTA Kansas members who are primarily faculty members in an accredited PT/PTA education program for at least 3 years.

This award honors a APTA Kansas member who has a history of service to PT professional organizations and the PT profession in general. Criteria includes 25+ years' APTA KS/APTA member, 15+ years' service to APTA KS/APTA or other components through committee work, or project/achievement that significantly promoted the PT profession

This award gives members an opportunity to honor a peer who has provided long, loyal and professional clinical service to the PT profession. Criteria includes extensive PT practice, involvement in outreach programs, professional and positive attitude and/or other paramedical or medical service.

The Outstanding Physical Therapist Student award is designed to honor outstanding students and to promote increased academic and professional involvement.  The intent of this award is to recognize those students exhibiting superior scholastic ability and the potential for future professional contributions.  Please consider sharing this information with your faculty and students as we look forward to hearing all of the wonderful things they have accomplished.

The Candy Bahner Outstanding Physical Therapist Assistant Student Award is designed to honor outstanding students and to promote increased academic and professional involvement.  The intent of this award is to recognize those students exhibiting superior scholastic ability and the potential for future professional contributions.  Please consider sharing this information with your faculty and students as we look forward to hearing all of the wonderful things they have accomplished.

Criteria for these awards:

  1. Awards are made on a competitive basis of the following: 
    1. Above average scholastic performance
    2. Past productivity
    3. Evidence of potential contribution to physical therapy
    4. Nominees must meet the eligibility requirements of APTA's "Mary McMillan Scholarship Award"   
  2. Award Selection: 
    1. All information must be submitted to the Nominating Committee no later than December 1st of each year.  
      1. Nomination form
      2. Letters of nomination (one from faculty, one from a member of the student body-other than the nominee)
      3. Option to include up to three letters of support from other faculty, students and physical therapy professionals
  3. The Nominating Chair will notify the awardees and the directors of their educational programs with awards to be presented at the spring conference.
