Platform and Poster Presentations

American Physical Therapy Association - Kansas Chapter Spring Conference March 14-15, 2025

DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF ABSTRACTS IS JANUARY 24th, 2025 (11:59 PM CST)

A member of the APTA must be identified as an author or co-author on the abstract. All abstracts will be reviewed using a blinded review by members of the APTA KS Research Committee. Selections will be based on relevance to physical therapy, logical arrangement, and compliance with content requirements. All selections are final. For research of human subjects, approved IRB consent must have been obtained. Abstracts may be published in Trigger Points or on the APTA-KS related websites.

Research Study, Case Study, and Special Topic abstracts will be considered:

Research Abstracts must include: 1) purpose or hypothesis of the study, 2) number and type of subjects, 3) materials and methods, 4) type(s) of data analysis used, 5) summary data, 6) numerical results of statistical test(s) where appropriate, 7) conclusion and 8) clinical relevance. This category can also include single-subject research designs

Case Study Abstracts must involve PT treatment of patients and include: 1) purpose/introduction, 2) accurate descriptions of the patient(s), treatments, and outcomes, 3) discussion regarding the unique clinical insight(s) gained from the case study and 4) conclusion being careful to avoid overstating.

Special Topic Abstracts: We welcome abstracts that describe a systematic selection and critique of evidence relevant to well-defined questions about diagnosis, prevention, intervention, or prognosis. Abstracts must include: 1) purpose, 2) data sources/ criteria for study selection, 3) results, 4) conclusion and 5) clinical relevance.

Special Instructions: Abstracts should be limited to 400 words or less. NOTE: Two copies of the abstract should be submitted electronically, one with identifying information and one without identifying information. The abstract with identifying information should include 1) the title in all-capitalized letters; 2) the full first and last name(s) and middle initials of the author(s), with the presenter name(s) underlined; 3) the institution/facility where the work was done; 4) the city and state of the institution/facility where the work was done; 5) acknowledgement of any financial support for the work being presented.

2025 Scientific Inquiry Awards: The APTA KS Research Committee will judge the poster and platform presentations to identify winners for the following awards: Best Platform Presentation, Best Overall Poster, Best Clinician Poster, Best Entry-level DPT Student Presentation (Poster and/or Platform). All judging decisions are final. All recipients will be acknowledged at the Spring Conference Business Meeting, on the APTA-KS website, and/or in Trigger Points. More information regarding the Spring Conference (programming, etc.) will be available through the APTA Kansas website (https://kpta.com/events/conferences/2024/spring) News" and/or "Events" in the Spring.
