Responding to COVID-19: Telehealth Expansion and Integration into the Clinical Practice.
Kansas Physical Therapy Association is pleased to present this Webinar on May 14 from 6-8pm CST. Participants will receive 2.0 CE credits for attending.
This 2 hour session will provide the Physical Therapist with background information on the recent increased flexibility in acceptance and coverage of telehealth services, including telemedicine, by federal and state agencies and commercial carriers, along with practical information on best practices for use of telehealth in the Physical Therapy practice, with practical examples and how to steps to help the Physical Therapy practice move toward telehealth service provision for their patient population during the COVID 19 Pandemic and beyond. Following the 1.5 hour presentation there will be 30 minutes of questions and answers with the KPTA board members.
The objectives of the webinar are:
-Describe the landscape of Telehealth before COVID 19
-Outline and explain federal action that expanded Telehealth services
-Describe federal funding opportunities and approaches tied to telemedicine and telehealth
-Describe and list telehealth resources
-Discuss telehealth best practices for Physical Therapist practices
-Describe coding/billing of telehealth services
-List various commercial insurer, state and federal payment approaches to telehealth services
-Define the role of Telehealth in the outpatient setting and in the scope of Physical Therapy practice.
-Discuss ethical considerations, liability, informed consent, and documentation for Physical Therapists performing Telehealth visits.
-Describe examination, assessment and intervention strategies when organizing and implementing Telehealth sessions with patients
-List potential barriers for patients and Physical Therapists for the use of Telehealth
About The Speaker(s)
Leading the webinar will be Matthew Katz who has more than 25 years of health policy and advocacy experience in health care delivery and health insurance, focusing on value-based payment models and improvements in billing, claims processing and payment for medical practices. Mr. Katz is well published in peer reviewed local and national medical journals along with health industry magazines.
Matthew will be joined by Jason Myerson PT, DPT who is a physical therapist in an outpatient orthopedic center in Westport, CT. Jason is a 2005 graduate of Quinnipiac University with his Master’s in Physical Therapy and Arcadia University with a Transitional DPT in 2015. He went on to complete Manual Therapy Residency and Fellowship training through the Ola Grimsby Institute in 2011 and 2012. Through the OGI he achieved a Doctorate in Manual Therapy (DMT) in 2012 and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT)in 2013. He also became a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2013, a certified Mulligan Practioner (CMP) in 2014 and certified in Dry Needling (CMTPT) through Myopain Seminars in 2014. He serves as adjunct faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy at Quinnipiac University.
